Mastercard to Visa - what does the Centtrip card upgrade mean for you?

Why are Centtrip cards being replaced?

We’re upgrading all Centtrip cards from Mastercard to Visa due to a change with our card issuer. This update allows us to offer additional features like Apple Pay and Google Pay support in the near future.


When will the new Visa cards arrive?

All cardholders will automatically receive a new Centtrip Visa card by August 29th. There's no need to request one — it will be sent directly to the address we have on file.


When can the new Visa cards be used?

You can activate and start using your new card from September 18th. Your current Mastercard will continue working until that date.


Do cardholders need to take any action?

That depends on the type of card:

  • Prepaid cardholders: You must clear your card balance by September 18th — either by spending the funds or transferring them back to your main Centtrip account.
  • Shared balance cardholders: No action is needed until September 18th, when you can activate your new card.

How do I know if I have a shared balance or a prepaid card?

You can check this easily in the Centtrip app:

  • If your card is linked to a shared balance, you'll see a message that says: “This card spends from a shared balance.”
  • If you see an individual balance amount, you are using a prepaid card

What do administrators need to do?

As an admin, your main role is to:

  • Ensure prepaid cardholders clear their balances by September 18th.
  • If needed, you can transfer unused prepaid funds back into the main account on their behalf.
  • No action is required for shared balance cards at this time.

Will card limits and controls stay the same?

Yes — all existing spending limits, controls, and settings will carry over to the new Visa cards automatically.


How do I activate my new card on September 18th?

The activation process is exactly the same as before, Step-by-step instructions are available here, but we'll provide a reminder nearer the time.


What improvements come with the new Visa cards?

You’ll continue to enjoy the same great features via the Centtrip app. Plus, this upgrade enables Apple Pay and Google Pay support, which will be available soon.


Who do I contact with questions or if a card hasn’t arrived?

If you have any concerns, haven’t received your new card by August 29th, or need help managing balances or activations, please contact Centtrip support.
